Driver Education Class to be offered during Summer 2019

We are happy to announce that Pike County Schools is offering a Driver Education class this summer. The class will consist of 5 classroom days and each student will have the opportunity to participate in 6 hours of driving instruction.

 

The driving instruction will consist of 2 days, 3 hours each day, in the student driving car.

 

All classes will meet at the Pike County Schools Alternative Learning Center, at 120 Dean Street.

 

If you plan for your student to attend, please fill out the student sign-up sheet and return to your school office as soon as possible.

 

Space is limited, as only the first 15 students to sign-up will be guaranteed a spot in the class.

 

All students must have a Alabama Driver Permit or Alabama Driver License to take this class.

 

A list of benefits to you and your student is below. Please direct any/all questions to Mr. David Godwin at 566-1850 ex. 109.

  • Students will have the opportunity to take the Alabama Boating Basics exam. Upon successful completion the student will be licensed to drive a motor driven vessel on the Alabama waterways.
  • Upon successful course completion each students will receive a driver education insurance discount that will last until their 21st birthday. Average yearly savings average around $175 per year.

  • Students will have the opportunity to take the 3rd Party Road Test. Upon successful completion, the student will receive their Alabama Driver License on their 16th birthday. They will not have to take the road test on that day!!!!!!

  • Students may be awarded 1 elective credit upon successful completion of the course.
