Principal's Bio

Principal

I am honored to serve the Goshen Elementary school and community as your principal. As I begin my eighth year as principal, each year becomes more rewarding as our students continue to achieve and meet higher level standards set forth by our state. At Goshen Elementary School, our faculty and staff take our jobs as public education servants very seriously. Our pledge to you, our parents, is to provide the very best education and experiences possible.  In 21st century schools, educators and administrators are charged with educating our students for jobs that have not even been created yet. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy is a new program offered to Pike County students in grades 5-8. Through participation in the STEM academy, our students will explore and learn about careers in all four fields. We have to constantly be reminded that our students will be entering a workforce that becomes increasingly complex and where success is driven by not only “what you know”, but “what you can do with what you know”. Our students must graduate from high school equipped with the knowledge and skills to help solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of information.  These are the types of skills that our students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math at much deeper levels than in the past. The following are a just a few statistics on job increases from 2010 to 2020, Computer Systems Analysts up 22%, Systems Software Developers up 32%, Medical Scientists up 36%, and Biomedical Engineers up 62%.  All of our students should be prepared to think deeply and to think well so that they have a chance to become innovators, educators, researchers, and leaders who can solve the most pressing challenges facing our nation and world. Thank you for trusting us with your children.
